The award-winning Selati Camp takes you on a journey to Africa of the great safari era. It all began back in the 1870's, when the Selati Line, a branch railway crossing the Sabi Sand Wildtuin (game reserve), was born. This old rail-bed can still be seen close to Selati Camp. In remembrance, the camp has been and luxuriously furnished with a historic railway theme and 19th century charm.
Original steam engine name plates, signals and other memorabilia decorate the lounge and Shunter's lamps light the way to your suite. With collector's pieces in each room Selati Camp feels like an authentic home in the bush. At night Selati Camp is lit by the warm glow of fires, oil lamps, and the Southern night sky. The camp is set in the heart of one of the oldest and largest proclaimed private reserves, an unspoilt part of Africa ecologically and geographically integrated with the adjacent Kruger National Park. Selati Camp has eight opulent thatched suites. Home-cooked cuisine at the camp is served either on decks built over the riverbed, in the open air boma or in the farmhouse kitchen. There are also full bar facilities. While staying at Selati Camp, you can have a storybook banquet under the stars, in the middle of the bush. After enjoying an evening game drive and bush sundowners, you will arrive at a feast with steaming dishes, a central log fire, traditionally-dressed waiters, buffet tables and fine wines – all this while local singing and dance entertain you. Selati Camp offers morning and evening driving safaris guided by an armed and knowledgeable game ranger and Shangaan tracker. You could also go on a guide morning bush walk, giving you the opportunity to experience wildlife at close quarters. With approximately three hundred and fifty different species of birds surrounding you at Selati Camp, you could also embark on a bird watching mission.
