Sculpted deep into the earth, the very private and aptly named Earth Lodge is almost invisible. It's a place where you can watch and study the animals going about their daily and nightly lives uninterrupted; where you will be cocooned in a luxurious sense of inspiration and grace. You are at one with the wilderness.

A hidden corridor leads you down into Earth Lodge, on a journey beneath the ground. Earth Lodge is set in the heart of one of the oldest and largest proclaimed private reserves, the Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve (Sabi Sand Wildtuin), an unspoilt part of Africa ecologically and geographically integrated with the adjacent Kruger National Park. Each of the twelve suites at Earth Lodge, including the 13th Amber suite, is attended by a butler and has natural sculptures by Geoffrey Armstrong, which add a special kind of ambience to the rooms. Some suites have king-size beds. Meals at Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge are served either in the boma, which walls are sculpted from roots and built up piece by piece, or in the subterranean cellar. There are also full bar facilities. While staying at Earth Lodge, you can have a storybook banquet under the stars, in the middle of the bush. After enjoying an evening game drive and bush sundowners, you arrive at a feast of steaming dishes, a central log fire, traditionally-dressed waiters, buffet tables and fine wines – all this while local singing and dance entertain you. Earth Lodge offers morning and evening driving safaris guided by an armed and knowledgeable game ranger and Shangaan tracker. You could also go on a guided morning bush walk, giving you the opportunity to experience wildlife at close quarters. With approximately three hundred and fifty different species of birds surrounding you at Earth Lodge, you could also embark on a bird watching mission.
