Indulge in privacy and unspoilt wilderness at Bayethe Lodge, a stone-walled and thatch-roofed sanctuary that means "welcoming" in Zulu.

If you'd like to stay in a tent, but still have the comfort of luxurious surroundings, then this lodge will certainly take your fancy. Framed by riverine trees, it overlooks river pools offering excellent game viewing. Each of the nine tents fits comfortably into the riverbed. Well camouflaged under the trees, the tents allow for plenty of privacy and comfort. Each has a private plunge pool, and you can indulge in the lodge's spa's treatments, gym and curio shop. Historic stories and legends of the area are often told by the rangers.

Shamwari Bayethe Lodge is located in the verdant bush along the Bushmans River, in Shamwari Game Reserve, a malaria-free private game reserve in the Eastern Cape which has received numerous international awards, including the World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve for many consecutive years. Set halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, Shamwari forms part of the famous Garden Route, along South Africa's Eastern Cape. Nearby attractions include a cultural village and The Born Free Foundation & Wilderness.
