The lodge is situated on a rugged dolomite ridge overlooking a vast African wilderness, within the Madikwe Game Reserve, a seventy five thousand hectare reserve situated in the North-West province of South Africa, on the border with Botswana. The large diversity of vegetation and eco-zones allows for a rich diversity of game and bird species to inhabit the reserve. The Reserve is home to almost thirty different mammal species including elephant, black and white rhino, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and other plains game species. Bird watchers will also delight in the over three hundred and fifty bird species already recorded in the reserve.
