Addo Elephant National Park

If you love adventure and consider yourself an outdoor person and a nature lover, the Addo Elephant National Park should be on the top of your list.

With over four hundred of these magnificent mammals, the Addo Elephant National Park is home to the most concentrated elephant population in Africa. The park was proclaimed in 1931 to save these elephants, part of the once-numerous Eastern Cape elephants that were made famous in Daleen Matthee's books, "Kringe In Die Bos" (Circles In The Forest) and "Fiela Se Kind" (Fiela's Child).

Apart from excellent opportunities to view these graceful animals close at hand, the park also offers sightings of lion, hyena, black rhino, buffalo and various antelope species.

Situated in the Eastern Cape Province, The Addo Elephant National Park is only 72km by road from Port Elizabeth. The park consists of 12,126ha of gently undulating valley Bushveld, dominated mostly by the Spekboom (portulacaria afra). It's the third largest park in South Africa, and offers a wide range of game viewing and outdoor activities. These include horseback riding, guided walking, hiking, 4x4 trails and a picnic area for day visitors.

At African Dream Holidays, we pride ourselves on our quality and selection of accommodation. Browse our site for further venues in the Eastern Cape, or contact us for a quote.
