TRAVEL TIPS - Namibia is a country of compelling beauty, abundant sunshine, and a feeling of unconfined space. With its un-spoilt landscapes and large variety of game, Namibia is one of the larger countries in Africa, and draws an increasing number of visitors from various parts of the globe. Namibia is situated in southern Africa on the Atlantic coast. It shares borders with Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east, and South Africa to the south. It is a large and mainly arid country. Deserts occupy much of the country; their dunes take on shapes and colours according to the elements. The country also boasts game-rich grasslands and a semi-arid Central Plateau, large tracts of which are given over to livestock farming. The Etosha National Park & Game Reserve is one of the finest in Africa, in that it remains, to a large extent, free of human influence.
With it's pleasantly warm and dry climate, clean air, good water and an un-spoilt coast, the untouched scenery and nature, plus the excellent infrastructure make Namibia a fantastic country to visit.
It gets quite hot between December to February, but because of its high altitude the nights are pleasantly cooled by a light breeze. Winters can get very cold at night with some frost in low lying areas, but the days are warm, sunny and cloudless. |
