Sunny beaches, a warm climate and friendly people: come to the seaside playground of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal's biggest city.

Take a dip in the warm Indian Ocean, surf the legendary waves, lie on the family-friendly beaches or go shopping and swimming at the uShaka Marine World. The Snake Park, Wilson's Wharf and Durban waterfront are also popular visiting spots.

Durban is famous for its beaches. North Beach is host to the annual Mr. Price Pro Surfing Championships (formerly known as the Gunston 500). There are many piers that stretch out into the Indian Ocean that serve as great fishing spots. The bathing beaches comprise a 4km stretch that starts at Addington in the south, and ends at the Country Club Blue Lagoon in the north.

Durban has a subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and mild to warm winters. The summers experience frequent rains in the form of thunderstorms during the afternoons, meaning that the sunny holiday weather is not badly affected. The temperatures in winter are more comfortable, yet still warm enough to go to the beach.
